Mr. Lunden is officially on spring break this week from pre-school and swimming. Oh but don't worry when he asked to go to Cabo with his friends we compromised and decided to meet Grandma and Grandpa B. down in Florida last week. Which ended up being a week before his spring break so needless to say he is on spring break this week as well! And thank goodness it has been in the high 70s the past couple of days because once he got a little taste of being outside every day in Florida last week I wasn't sure how I was going to explain the chilly days once we got home. I think we officially brought the warm air with us!
The trip went great, the boys travel really well and always have. They are little rock stars on plane rides and barely a peep with car rides. I guess all the traveling early while they were babies has paid off. Once we arrived in Fort Myers Grandma and Grandpa B. were waiting with open arms. Lunden was so confused, the minute we landed he yelled out really loud, "We are in Minnesota to see Grandma and Grandpa." Of course we got some funny stares since of course we were in Florida. The weather was absolutely beautiful the entire time we were there. I can't remember a time I went to Florida and it didn't rain at least a day while we were on vacation.
Our only set back was the time change with day light savings as well as another added hour into another time zone. So we were having a tough time with the boys sleeping patterns with a two hour time difference. By the end of the week we figured it out and then of course it was time to go home.
The first day we were there Lunden, Grandpa B., and Nick drove to Tampa to watch the Twins vs. Yankees. Of course Grandpa B. was decked out in his Twins gear and Nick and Lunden had their Yankee hats and jerseys on ready to go. They had a blast even though the Twins kicked the Yankees booties, don't tell Bronx he would be crushed.
This was just the start of Lunden's food extravaganza....by the end of the game he had had a pretzel, a bag of peanuts, ice cream, a foot long hot dog, a lemonade, and cotton candy. And not to mention they stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home for a slurpee because they were to thirsty from all the munchies...no wonder he had a tummy ache that night.
While they were at the game Bronx, Grandma B. and I went to the shrimp festival on the beach, yummy is in understatement! We ate fresh seafood right from the ocean! Bronx of course loved the ice cream we had for dessert.
For the next five days all we did was BEACH it! Morning, noon and night! We could not get Lunden off of the beach he loved every minute of it. In the mornings Grandma B. and Lunden would walk along the beach collecting shells and other random sea creatures. He loved the star fish they found one morning.
This picture along with the next couple pretty much sum up the rest of the trip....beach, beach, and more beach. It is the best entertainment for a two year old. Him and Grandpa B. built big sand castles every day.

Lunden and I digging a huge hole around our castle.
Lunden carrying the 50th or so bucket filled with water for our hole we dug. He made so many trips!
We were finally able to get Bronx out to the beach one day. Unfortunately he got Lunden's upper respiratory infection and we had to start him on antibiotics while we were on vacation. With Bronx you just N.E.V.E.R. know what will happen day to day. I had researched the closest children's hospital, walk-in clinic, along with the local pharmacy in case we needed anything. Which ended up being a good thing I did because Bronx had a tough couple of days. But once the antibiotics kicked in he was ready to rock and roll!

Every night our family took a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. Lunden insisted on having a huge blue cookie monster ice cream cone every night. The picture says it all!
Before we had gotten to Florida I called a baby rental equipment company to rent a beach jogging stroller, a high chair, as well as an exer-causer. It was an awesome deal, free delivery and pick up and it was there and ready for action when we arrived at the condo.

My little peanut!
Happy Spring Break!
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa B. for a fun trip and lots of great memories!
