I realized the other day I have been to the grocery store twice (two times) in the past two years by myself. Yes thats right twice. I bring these two little guys every where and you know what they are really good shoppers! Many of my MOM friends have told me that they refuse to shop with their kids. I am not sure I totally agree with this method, but to each his own. I am a big believer in emerging your kids in daily activities to work on manners, and good listening habits. Start them out early and you would be surprised how behaved they can be in a store. It's amazing how much a two year old can learn at the grocery store. I always choose to go in the morning after our work-outs since no one is really out shopping at that time of day.
I went by myself last week to pick up a couple things at the grocery store while Lunden and Bronx were with Grandma and Grandpa E. I will have to say it was so weird! I got done shopping in twenty minutes, which usually would have taken me at least an hour.
Do you know what it takes to shop with two little munchkins by myself?
1) Pack the appropiate gear in my purse/diaper bag.
2) Unbuckle both boys from their car seats.
3) Make sure to grab my usable cloth bags to put my groceries in.
4) Make sure to grab Bronx's seat cover to put in the shopping cart, I am a total germ monster.
5)While carrying all of our gear plus Bronx, Lunden is hanging on to my purse begging for the cart with the car attached to the front. No problem buddy it's all yours!
6) Dis-infect the attached car with wipes, get Bronx settled in the front of the cart after I have put the cover on the seat. Throw the grocery bags in the cart along with the diaper bag. Oh will there be any room left for the groceries?
7) And we are off!
But you know what, I wouldn't change it for the world. Lunden looks forward picking out all of the vegetables and fruit. I taught him how to walk next to me while we are in the grocery store. He is such a good shopper! Once we are out of the produce section he jumps into the car and we head to the deli where he nibbles on some turkey. Next stop the bakery, free cookies for all kiddos! Which pretty much guarantees we will make it through the rest of the store. He picks out his yogurt, popsicles, eggs, juice, and any other necessary food that may be required for the week. And always a quick stop at the toy aisle to end the trip!
Oh and then once we are done shopping the trip to the car is always an adventure with all the bags stacked up in the cart. That is why I always do my grocery shopping at Dillons, they always have someone that can help me out to my car.
Sam's Club has the best shopping carts, they fit two munchkins side by side which allows for lots of fun items to fill the cart! Lunden insists on sitting next to Bronx. But what he really insists on is going to Sam's Club on Thursdays to sample all of the good food they have for their customers. It is so funny how excited he gets!
And then there are shopping trips like this! A tired out little boy from a big day of pre-school. Side Note: Bronx is always awake when we are shopping, the kid would never miss a possible party!
Cool information. I like this post keep posting variety of articles.
