The Number 3

This week I turned 30, yes the big 3-0!  Pretty sure I was the last of all of my friends and am totally fine with that! But I did also realize this is the year to be surrounded by three's in my every day life.  I am a huge numbers person and for some reason have thought about the number 30 for the past couple months.  I wasn't really sure if I wanted to give up the number 29, it sounds oh so young! But ready or not the big 30 came and decided to stay, at least for the next 365 days!


Let me tell you what I mean when I talk about 3's surrounding me.  Lunden turned 3 this month, Bronx had surgery to remove his 3rd thumb, I am almost 30 weeks pregnant, I will have 3 little boys under the age of 3 by Thanksgiving, I will be married 6 years in a couple of months, which divided by two equals 3, my husband turns 33 on his next Birthday, and the best surprise of the whole week was my parents who drove down from MN for my 30th Birthday, will be married 33 years this year!


As my husband and I were out to dinner I realized I am officially surrounded by threes this year.  Hmmmm, interesting what does that mean?  So I did a little research and this is what I found.

• In the Christian faith tradition, the number 3, symbolized by the Trinity (Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer), has come to mean wholeness. 
• The 3 attributes of God are omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. It is said that the number 3 is used 523 times in Scripture!
• 3 wise man came to Jesus bearing 3 gifts-gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
• Jesus spread the gospel for 3 years, according to the Gospel of John.
• Jesus raised 3 people from the dead- Luke, Jairus, and Lazarus of Bethany
• Jonah was in the belly of the whale for 3 days and 3 nights
• Jesus rose from the dead after being in the tomb for 3 days and 3 nights
• The 3 divisions of time-past, present, and future.
• The 3 persons in grammar- me, myself and I.
• The sum of all human ability is threefold- thoughts, word, and deed.
• The 3 kingdoms of matter- animal, vegetable, or mineral.
• Only 3 primary colors are needed to mix most any color-red, yellow, and blue.
• Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun.
• 3 lines are necessary to form a planar figure and 3 dimensions are required to form a solid.
• There are 3 steps listed in Acts 2:38 in the Bible that lead to salvation: Repentance, Baptism, and God will fill you with the Holy Spirit.  

Spiritual Meaning of the number 3:

 The spiritual meaning of the number 3 deals with magic, intuition, fecundity, and advantage. The number 3 invokes expression, versatility, and pure joy of creativity. Three is also a timeidentifier as it represents Past, Present and Future. Consecutive Threes in your life may symbolize the need to express yourself creatively, or consider your present directional path in relation to past events and future goals. Three may also represent promising new adventures, and assurance of cooperation from others whom you may require help. Three typically symbolizes reward and success in most undertakings.

Do I think all of these amazing events are ironic or coincidental?  Both, I totally believe God 

has planted 3's around me in this time of my life to make me pay attention and to take 

notice of people and experiences that occur around me, especially in the next year.  I truly 

believe the number three represents something divine in my life! It sure makes a person think!
